QUALIA calls to us into an experience as sacred and ineffable as birth, death, and the uncharted obsessions that bind us in-between. As fragile as the solitary note of the violin, we are reminded that in the end, our time is measured by how we loved...
SYNOPSIS
On August 24 and 25, 2012, the world-renowned troupe Les 7 doigts / The 7 Fingers performed a one-hour original creation by Viveka Melki, titled “Qualia”. Four thousand people attended a magical outdoor performance of circus arts and music. The project was supported by the Canada Council for the Arts (CAC) as an inter-arts project that celebrated the life of Elsie Reford, the founder of Les Jardins de Métis/ Reford Gardens. Qualia was presented by the community organization Heritage Lower Saint Lawrence. Melki's moving narrative captured the imagination, presenting audiences with an intergenerational and intercultural event that transformed Les Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens into a landscape of poetry through the circus arts.
